Summer walk to the Saxon ring village of Woodhurst

Woodhurst 01

Start this walk by parking in the Co-operative supermarket car park. Over the hedge in the fields opposite there’s a footpath, accessed to the left side of the car park. Walk right down this path until it turns left.

Good points of this route (click map to enlarge) are…

  • 4.5 miles of easy walking across farmland
  • The walk around, as well as approach to and retreat from, Woodhurst is really attractive
  • There’s often nesting moorhens in the village pond
  • Woodhurst is one of the best examples of a Saxon ring villages in England.

Not so good is there’s no pub or any other kind of shop in Woodhurst, so take a flask with you.
